Good stuff! I like this as super events aggregator! Wery, wery useful thing!
And, hey, some people work sometimes, why we can't support their productive activity some way? We can recognise flows of events some way! We can "*tag*" (what a word!) some people's event's sources as "work" or "fun" e.t.c. and even someway tag events inside sources! But no, tagging (dividing) events inside sources is problem of source itself. And of cource tagging a source is duty of source owner. What an idea! I got a feed on you!

I also though about how to involve "groups" into this. I see NoseRub more on the profile and network part and not so much in storing data.
So, if you are "in" a group, you express your interest in that topic. That means instead of having group functionality in NoseRub, it would be better to just store your interests in your NoseRub profile and have some service having groups for every interest people are having out there.
This is similar to your thoughts about tagging: when I express my interest in "scuba-diving", I should be able to add photos from my diving holiday to that "interest". This way, the group service could display their own content (eg discussions) with the user generated content - my holiday photos in this example. And they might be stored at flickr, ipernity, or my own server in a photo blog.

I hope you will easily organise things that process of developing of NoseRub will do no harm on exiting people's "Rubs".
I'm not quite sure what you mean, but it also should be able to export your whole network and import it to another. All your contacts then should automatically get your new address.

Thanks for this walkthrough. It looks pretty cool, I give it a second try as the first version didn't work here (many controller not found errors)
Please let me know, when you find any more problems. I used a clean account for the walkthrough and fixed some glitches.
I'm not 100% sure about the whole updating/migration process, but when others should be able to install the application, something like that is really neccessary. You cannot "force" them into specific deployment process.

Some famous online game writers want to use existing social networks for new project. I think it worth attention:

NoseRub is a project started by Dirk Olbertz of Blogscout fame. The idea of NoseRub is that it works as a protocol to aggregate data of decentralized social networks. If you want to check it out, the code of a sample application in its early stages is h
